Angel Rivera is a PhD candidate in Developmental and Psychological Sciences (DAPS) at the Stanford Graduate School of Education. She is interested in creating diversity-centered initiatives to help increase the sense of belonging, self-efficacy, and science identity of students with minoritized identities in STEM. Her current work focuses on bridging the gap between theory and practice for culturally-relevant, responsive, and sustaining (CSRR) pedagogy within higher education STEM. She is currently working on interviewing STEM instructors from different institutions across the U.S. on the CSRR pedagogical strategies they’ve employed, the barriers to implementation, and the supports needed.
She earned two B.S. degrees from University of California, San Diego in Human Biology and Global Health.
